Gilda's Club Kentuckiana
Case Study
Much like our work for Weyland Ventures, Gilda’s Club Kentuckiana is a multi-faceted organization that required a complete website overhaul to update content, structure, and design. A well-planned menu structure is the head and heart of a website — it’s what dictates user experience and perception.
Take a look at how we organized the Gilda’s Club website menu to provide a sense of visual hierarchy. It’s organized into three layers, based on perceived importance. We started with a bold blue announcement banner at the top, then a layer of quick click/action buttons like social media icons, “Join,” “Donate,” and “Calendar,” then a line of more static, content-heavy pages such as “About Us,” “Locations,” and “Resources.” This design allows users to access everything they need as soon as they visit the ‘site, without having to dig around. One of the issues we noticed on the old website was a lack of joy.
The ‘site failed to communicate Gilda’s story and central mission — to spread humor and love. We made intentional effort to work in bright, on-brand colors, high-quality pictures/quotes/facts about Gilda’s life, and fresh imagery, adding warmth and character in noticeable ways. It’s amazing how subtle changes can impact your emotional experience on a website.

About the Client
Gilda’s Club is a nationwide organization that provides support groups, education, and community programming for individuals impacted by cancer and their families. Founded in 2005 by a group of six Louisville cancer survivors, Gilda’s Club Louisville opened its welcoming red doors in 2007, becoming the first cancer support community in the Kentuckiana region. Inspired by the life and laughter of comedy-legend Gilda Radner, this nonprofit provides emotional and social support for thousands of individuals each year.
